Hi Support,

In SpamProtectFactory I see there is the possibility to filter on domain and/or on country.
Imagine I want to filter on domain. How do I fill in the domain name?
I did a first try with “.pl” for Poland, but that did not seem to work, as another user with an email coming from this domain was able to “try” to register. (It was not enabled yet)

Same for the country, do I just fill in the country names? E.g. “Belgium” ?
And how does it execute this kind of filtering?

Cheers,
Caroline

Hello!

1. Wildcards (e.g. *.pl) were not supported. We've just released a new version that contains wildcard support.
2. You need to use country codes (e.g. PL, RO, RU). Also, in the latest version of the extension, we've changed to country code resolver service, as the old one was not working anymore.
3. What do you mean by: "And how does it execute this kind of filtering?"?

Hi Alexandru,
Thanks for your answers.
1) So for now until I have installed the updated version,
Filter domain names should be: pl, ro, us
And after update I can use: *.pl, *.ro, *.us

2) okay, I need to use the official country codes for that.

3) I meant over here that: "Will everyone that registers, e.g. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. , be filtered against both extension (us) and country code? (USA)

Cheers,
Caroline

1. Until the new version you had to use: gmail.com, mail.com, yahoo.com. After the new version you can use: gmail.com and also *.com (that will filter all .com domains).

3. If you enable all the filters, then yes, all the filters will be applied. If one filter fails, then the request is rejected.

If you have the time we would be happy to receive a review under:

extensions.joomla.org/extension/spam-protect-factory/

We are lacking reviews since unfortunately, satisfied customers rarely return to leave reviews, and most of the times we receive only revenge reviews, for situations outside our support range. Such low rated revenge reviews don't help a potential new user or us, nor the Joomla community. Since we started developing Joomla extensions 10 years ago, we have noticed that if a product is well rated, it's a win-win situation for everybody. Having a larger user base for a certain product means more and variate user feedback which are helping us to continuously improve the product and by thus bringing some financial resources that further help and sustain the development of the specified extension over a longer period of time, as we are striving with all our extensions.

Thank you for your time!
